Join RPOA on Wednesday, January 27th as we welcome, Bernard Harkless, from Principal of Lynx Ventures, Matt Jarreau, from George: A Real Estate Group, and our very own Treasurer, Cory Weiner, from CW Performance Group, LLC for a panel discussion on the Manchester, Church Hill, and Northside communities.
About Bernard Harkless, Principal of Lynx Ventures
Bernard manages development and execution of Lynx projects, relying on his experience in architecture, construction, planning, and finance. Prior to joining Lynx, Bernard developed luxury condominiums, apartments, and affordable housing in New York City and gained significant experience in construction management with Clark Construction in Washington, DC. He holds a degree in architecture from the University of Virginia and dual master’s degrees in real estate development and city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
About Matt Jarreau - George: A Real Estate Group
Matt is a Richmond native and has stayed local his entire life. He was raised in both Glen Allen and Ginter Park, giving him a great first hand perspective on suburban and city living.
He attended Benedictine from 1996-2000 which gave him his first glimpse of urban living and planted the seeds for being interested in real estate and architecture. In high school and college he managed pools throughout RVA and drove up to 700 miles a week. He gained an intimate understanding of the city and surrounding counties in those early days.
Before graduating in 2006 from VCU, Matt completed a study of New Urbanization which opened his eyes to the many interesting neighborhoods in the city as well as current and past trends in population shifts, zoning and planning. While at VCU he discovered Church Hill and in March 2006, just before graduating, he closed on his first home. He knew at that moment that he would be involved in real estate on some level for years to come.
Within 6 weeks of graduation Matt had his Real Estate License in hand and began his career and have never looked back. Matt feels it’s a privilege and a joy to help people everyday buy or sell their homes, rentals, or multifamily properties.
About Cory Weiner - CW Performance Group, LLC
Graduated from Virginia Tech in December 2010 with a Business Management Major and a Real Estate and Leadership Minors. He bought his first flip property in February 2011 and continued to flip properties until March 2013 when he went to work for Weinstein Properties in their Construction Group. While working at Weinstein Properties, he personally continued to buy, renovate, and rent out properties. In December 2017, he had built a real estate portfolio large enough that could sustain going full time as a real estate investor. Cory is active in the Richmond real estate networking events and is currently the Treasurer for Richmond Property Owners Association.
